About the Authors
Maddie Wright is a cool cat. She is a journalism student at Colorado State University. She works for the CSU based newspaper, The Rocky Mountain Collegian, covering Arts and Culture stories. Additionally, she works for residence halls, educating on-campus residents on advocacy and leadership.
While she is not a scientist and hardly understands basic math, she does believe many scientific theories that the Earth is in fact round. This topic of the Flat Earth Theory was first introduced to her through Facebook posts by her friendly high school stoner. In 2017, this belief became more and more reported on through The Denver Post, Vice, Good Morning Britain, and so on. It is an interesting topic and those who identify as flat earthers have a eyebrow raising story to tell.
This is her debut documentary. It features her new friend and famous Flat Earther, Mark Sargent who has inspired a critical approach to politics and science. After an initial 55 minute conversation about the Earth, movies, and thoughts on NASA Sargent has made quite the impression on Wright and how she views the world. The other interviews featured in this documentary gave a lot of inspiration and laughs.
Her hopes for this project is to make people, especially her TA, laugh. While all of the information in this documentary is factual, the topic in nature is silly. She hopes people giggle but also gain a better understanding of what people believe in terms of the shape of the world. There are a thousand and one conspiracy theories and this is one with a lot of coverage.
Shiloh Lynn is a boss lady. She is a journalism student at Colorado State University. She spend a lot of her time attending classes and working in the glitz and glam world of customer service at Home Depot. In her free time, she enjoys falling down the rabbit hole of Facebook memes.
When Lynn isn’t patrolling the internet for dank memes, she enjoys science and math. With her extensive knowledge of common physics and geology, Lynn believes the Earth is round. While researching material for this documentary, Lynn’s jaw dropped. How was this real? How can people believe such things? As she dug further, more and more questions arose without much answers. This sparked the idea to do this documentary. It is both a thought provoking and entertaining topic. Everyone has an idea and the stranger the better.
This is her debut documentary. It features her icon and hero, Mark Sargent, who served as one of the keynote speakers at the first International Flat Earth Conference. He has inspired her research and approach to this documentary. Other interviews featured in this documentary brought in new theories and evidence to ponder, such as if mars and the moon are flat or if we are actually in a simulation.
Lynn’s hopes for this project is to make people, including her best friend Morgan Marley, laugh. She wants to inspire thought about the world and to pay attention to conspiracy theories and those who believe them.
